Wrenley and her mother move to Waindale to live with her grandmother. Wrenley starts attending Waindale High School and quickly notices the strange atmosphere of the town. She befriends Vivian, who later reveals that she and some others are werewolves. Wrenley becomes determined to uncover the secrets surrounding a mysterious black wolf that has been watching her.
Arrival in Waindale: Wrenley is initially captivated by the town's natural beauty but soon realizes it holds many mysteries. She reunites with her grandmother and settles into her new home and school.
Strange Encounters: Wrenley has a terrifying encounter with what she believes to be a bear while walking in the forest. She later discovers that the private school students seem to be hiding something and becomes suspicious.
Werewolf Revelation: Vivian confesses to being a werewolf and shows Wrenley her shifted form. Wrenley then learns that the black wolf she has seen is also a werewolf, and she is determined to find out who he is.
Search for Answers: Wrenley tries to get information from Vivian and her friends but is met with secrecy. She decides to take matters into her own hands and attempts to find the black wolf herself.
Wrenley's Quest for Knowledge
Investigating the Academy: Wrenley discovers a shirt from the private school (Waindale Academy) under her bed and tries to find out more about the school and its connection to the werewolves. She even disguises herself to enter the academy but is caught.
Confronting Vivian: Wrenley constantly presses Vivian for answers, but Vivian is limited in what she can say due to pack rules.
Meeting with the Black Wolf: Wrenley finally has a face-to-face (or paw-to-hand) encounter with the black wolf in the forest. She tries to communicate with him and asks if he is her father or has some connection to her, but he only gives her a few clues before leaving.
