The story follows Estrella Berrocal, a 21-year-old graduate from La Universidad Santa. She agrees to surrogacy for 1.2 million euros due to her family's financial difficulties. After a difficult pregnancy, she gives birth to a baby, but the child is taken away immediately. Returning home, she discovers her father has committed suicide and her stepmother and stepsister have taken over the family villa.
Three years later, she returns to the city and tries to persuade Adam Rouco, the CEO of the Rouco Group who plans to demolish the villa, to spare it. She applies for a job at the Rouco Group but realizes they are actually interviewing for the position of Mrs. Rouco. Adam shows interest in her but also humiliates her. Meanwhile, Adam is searching for the surrogate mother of his daughter Paulita.
Estrella also applies for an art teaching position at a kindergarten where she meets Paulita, who has problems getting along with other children. The story unfolds with Estrella's determination to save the villa and her entanglement with Adam and his family.
